one.com vs Wix: Which Hosting & Website Builder is Best for Small Businesses?

one.com Vs Wix

Choosing between Wix and one.com can be a tough decision! I’ve used both platforms and was consistently impressed with the results, regardless of the plan I selected. However, every business has specific needs, so I’m going to help you identify which of the two is better for you.  Let’s compare them based on their functionality, pricing, features, and usability.

Wix

Wix is a website builder that can be used for various purposes. No matter how experienced or clueless a person is, it helps to build a custom-tailored, modern, and professional-looking website in minutes.

Although it may not be as affordable as one.com, it is the most acceptable option if you’re seeking a website builder that has it all. 9/10 if you’d take my recommendation seriously.

one.com

one.com is considered one of the most reliable hosting providers for individuals and small to medium-sized businesses. Getting a competitive pricing like one.com has always been appealing. I, myself, got hooked on the budget-friendly plans in a snap. Although it’s cheap compared to other brands, I was shocked by the overall performance.

How to Install Wix or one.com

Installing Wix

Installing Wix is super easy! Just follow my steps, and you’ll have everything set up in less than 5 minutes. Pinky promise! Here we go.

Step 1: Go to the website of Wix and click on start now.

Step 2: Sign up for a free account.

You can sign up using one of the following options: Email, Google Account, or Facebook account.

If you choose email sign-up, you’ll need to fill in your name, email address, and create a password.

Step 3: Choose a template or let Wix build one for you.

There are around 800 templates available on Wix. You can adjust layouts, fonts, shades, images, and more to make your website uniquely yours.

However, if you wish to rely on AI, you can choose the Wix ADI to create the website for you. It’s a great option if you want to create a professional-looking website without having to spend a lot of time on every detail.

Step 4: Read Wix’s terms of service and privacy policy

Click the box to agree to them.

Step 5: Start building your website.

You can add new pages to your site, such as an About Us, Services, or Contact page.  You can also set up your domain if you have the time. If you want a custom domain, you’ll need to upgrade to a paid plan though.

Installing one.com

Installing one.com is super easy as well. Follow these steps for a seamless process.

Step 1: Go to one.com’s website

Click “Start Now” to proceed.

Step 2: Choose a hosting plan

Here is the latest pricing as of 2025.

        • Beginner (best for small projects)  – $0.99 per month
        • Explorer (best for blogs) – $4.99 per month
        • Enthusiast (best for entrepreneurs) – $4.99 per month
        • Guru (best for businesses) – $9.99 per month

If you’re unsure which plan to choose, they offer a feature comparison page to address your concerns.

Feel free to add some extras if you need additional requirements after choosing a plan.

Step 3: Choose a domain name

After choosing your plan, you have to select a domain name. You can either choose a new one or just use what you have. If you already own a domain, you can link it to your hosting.

Step 4: Create your account

Sign up for an account. Enter your email address and create a password.

Step 5: Finalize your order and head to payment

After the payment is processed, one.com will send you a confirmation email about the hosting you purchased and how to access your account.

one.com offers a variety of payment methods such as credit cards, PayPal, Apple Pay, and more.

Step 6: Begin with website creation

You can now start building your small business website if the payment is confirmed!

Starting with website creation before hosting is possible, but I suggest prioritizing the latter more. It’s better to secure hosting and a domain name first.

To start creating a website, you need to choose a plan as well. For as low as $1.99 per month, you can get all the essentials for a great website.

Pricing

Wix

Wix already offers hosting as part of its website-building platform. When you create a website on Wix, it is automatically hosted on their servers. Here’s the latest pricing as of March 2025.

        • Business Elite –  $159 per month
        • Business – $36 per month
        • Core – $29  per month
        • Light –  $17  per month
        • Free- $0 (forever)

Wix is completely free for as long as you want to use it. If you want a more professional website with far more features, you’ll need to upgrade to a paid plan.

I suggest using the Light plan for small businesses aiming to showcase their work with a custom domain. It has no Wix ads with a 2GB storage.

Meanwhile, the Core plan is perfect for businesses looking for a professional online presence without the need for an online store. This option provides tools for creating a professional website at an affordable price.

If you want a side-by-side comparison of the plans, Wix has got you covered. Check this out:

Overall, Wix is a little more expensive than other website builders in the marketplace.
com

one.com is considered affordable, especially for those who are just starting or running smaller websites. Here is the latest pricing of its hosting as of March 2025.

Hosting Plans

        • Beginner (best for small projects) – $0.99 per month

        • Guru (best for businesses) – $9.99 per month

The pricing is straightforward, with plans that include everything you need for a basic website! If you want to upgrade your plan or add more features, one.com offers reasonably priced add-ons.

For website creation, you can choose among 3 options:

        • Premium  – $2.99 per month
        • Business + Ecommerce  –  $4.99 per month

        Starter  –  $1.99 per month

one.com’s Website Builder plans allow users to start with basic features and progressively add more advanced functionalities as their needs develop.

I suggest the Starter plan if you just want to experiment with the brand. Nonetheless, it’s a steal you shouldn’t miss.

Features

Wix

Wix is an all-in-one platform that offers three different methods to create websites: Wix Artificial Design Intelligence, Wix Editor, and Wix Velo.

    • Wix ADI/ Wix Artificial Design Intelligence

The ADI creates a customized website for you in real-time based on your responses to questions. This super cool feature creates a website for you using AI. You get a couple of questions, and that’s it, Wix’s AI builds you a website. Amazing right?

    • Wix’s Editor

The Editor is an intuitive drag-and-drop interface with various possibilities for each element, hundreds of templates (plus more from the community), video backdrops, parallax, and other fully adjustable features included in the editor.

    • Wix Velo

Velo is a tool that allows users to create more complex websites. It is a more complex interface, though more for the tech-savvy crowd. In fact, it was created to allow you to extend the functionality of your Wix sites by utilizing JavaScript to get beyond the limits of the site builder. Even if you know how to use JavaScript and perform API calls, you don’t need to code to get started.

All Wix sites are hosted on their servers and contain security, backups, search engine optimization, domain names, and other features. Apps from the app store might help you to customize your website.

one.com

    • Drag-and-Drop Functionality

one.com’s website builder is intuitive, allowing you to create a website on your own. It offers a variety of templates to help you start quickly.

    • Affordability

one.com offers affordable services like no other. Although it’s cheap compared to other brands, I was shocked with the overall performance. I was getting a good deal out of my money. I love how the plans provide unlimited bandwidth, ensuring that my website can handle more traffic without downtime.

    • Satisfactory Support

one.com offers 24/7 customer support, and their knowledge base is helpful for troubleshooting. Soid help, I must say.

    • Automatic Backups

One.com backs up your website, so you can restore previous versions in case something goes wrong.

Usability

Both Wix and one.com offer an intuitive drag-and-drop website builder that makes it easy to create a website without any skills. The learning curve is minimal, and you can effortlessly include texts, images, and elements to your page.

However, I recommend one.com if you’re just starting your business and would like to prioritize simplicity

Wix is the better option for users who want comprehensive customization and advanced features.

Conclusion

Wix is known for its user-friendly interface, exceptional design options, and extensive features that cater to small businesses. On the other hand, One.com offers competitive pricing, straightforward solutions, and is particularly well-suited for those who prioritize simplicity and value.

No matter which option you choose, I’m confident you’ll achieve the best possible results. Best of luck on your business journey – I’m sure you’ll do great!
