2. Downloads for the mobile app market are dominated by China, with 362 million.

Semrush discovered that companies based in China dominate the mobile app market with a total of 362 million downloads in 2022. This total comes from three mobile app companies that far surpassed American-based Amazon’s 81 million downloads for the said year.

Amazon only ranked fourth in the number of downloads globally, thanks to Meesho with 127 million, Shopee with 118 million, and SHEIN with 117 million downloads in the first half of 2022.

3. Mobile commerce is projected to reach 8.7% of total retail sales by 2026 in the United States

Insider Intelligence projects that mobile commerce will reach $415.93 billion of total retail sales in 2022 and resume its growth after a post-pandemic dip in 2023 until it reaches 8.7% in growth by 2026.

The pandemic drip is expected to drop 9.9% of total retail sales in 2023 but will climb again to 6.5% by the end of the year. The growth is estimated to reach 7.2% in 2024 and 7.9% in 2025. The projection is based on actual ecommerce sales in 2022, where 87.2% come from smartphones.

4. South Korea and China generated 2/3 of the total mobile online sales in the Asia Pacific last 2022
