According to a current survey of W3Techs, Newfold Digital Group provides hosting solutions to 4.0% of all websites. Newfold Digital Group is a global company that provides several online solutions and hosting brands including Bluehost.
Bluehost enjoys 1.1% of the websites serviced by Newfold Digital Group. This is equivalent to 4,450,693 websites, as per Builtwith. While 27.4% of Newfold Digital Group’s web hosting clients are hosted by Bluehost.
2. 48.28% of websites hosted by Bluehost are live or active
Builtwith highlighted in its October 11, 2023 report on the market share of Bluehost that almost half or 48.28% of the websites it hosts are live or active. That is 2,148,613 out of the 4,450,693 historically hosted by Bluehost.
3. 84.77% of the live websites hosted by Bluehost come from the United States
The United States ranks as the top country serviced by Bluehost in the world. It comprises 84.77% of all live websites hosted by Bluehost, which totals 1,821,388.
This represents a 15.77% increase in the number of customers hosted by Bluehost in the United States based on December 2022 data, which was 69%. The United States leads by 1,779,428 websites against the United Kingdom, which ranks 2nd in the world as of October 11, 2023.
4. 1.95% of websites hosted by Bluehost come from the United Kingdom
The United Kingdom ranks second in the world for having the most number of websites serviced by Bluehost. This comprises 41,960 websites or a 1.95% market share of the 2,148,613 live Bluehost websites.
The other three countries in the top five list serviced by Bluehost are Canada with 40,174 websites (1.87%), Australia with 25,621 websites (1.19%), and Colombia with 13,786 websites (0.64%)
5. 0.09% of websites hosted by Bluehost come from the Netherlands
Bluehost hosts 1,850 websites from the Netherlands, which is 0.09% of the 2,148,613 live websites serviced by the renowned provider. There are 256 hosting providers in the Netherlands where Lease Web ranks as number 1 as of October 4, 2023. Leaseweb is a dedicated hosting provider that services 6,699 domains in the Netherlands as per WHTop.
Interestingly, the travel website Rome2Rio ranks first among the websites hosted by Bluehost in the Netherlands. 6. Bluehost’s market share in the United States declined by 3.90% in October 2023
HostAdvice reported that Bluehost ranked 7th among web hosting providers in the United States as of October 2023. GoDaddy remains the top hosting provider in the United States although its market share declined by 17.91%. The same pattern of decline was experienced by other top hosting providers in the country including Bluehost, which currently ranks 7th for experiencing a 3.90% decline in market share.
7. Bluehost’s market share in the United States declined by 1.1% since 2021
Bluehost dropped by three spots in the last two years by 1.1%. It was regarded as the fourth largest hosting provider in the United States last 2021 for having a 5.0% market share. Bluehost was among the top 10 web hosting companies in the world encompassing 56.4% of the market together with GoDaddy, Google Cloud Platform, and Amazon Web Services.

Bluehost provides hosting to 0.19% of the top 100,000 websites in the world based on traffic as of October 2023. This comprises a total of 192 websites in the world. While 0.19% of the top 10,000 websites in the world are hosted by Bluehost, which is a total of 19 websites for the same period.
11. There was a 0.1% decline in the number of websites hosted by Bluehost in the world in October 2023
The number of websites in the world hosted by Bluehost declined by 0.1% from September to October 2023. Bluehost used to service 1.2% of the world’s websites last September—approximately more than 2 million—and this became 1.1% in October.
However, this remains 0.4% higher than the number of websites in the world hosted by Bluehost in 2018, which was only 0.7%.
12. 3.2% of Shopify websites are hosted by Bluehost
According to HostAdvice, Bluehost serves the top 5 CMS-hosted websites in 2023: WordPress, Wix, Shopify, Drupal, and Joomla.
Bluehost provides 78.69% of hosting to CMS WordPress websites, 13.61% to CMS Wix websites, and 3.2% to CMS Shopify websites. While 2.43% of Drupal CMS websites and 2.08% of Joomla CMS websites are hosted by Bluehost.
13. 30% of reviews in Trustpilot review favoring Bluehost commend its excellence
There are 2,199 reviews for Bluehost on Trustpilot where its average TrustScore is 3.0. Of the 2,199 reviews on Trustpilot, 30% of clients or website owners say they find Bluehost an excellent hosting provider.
14. Bluehost’s website increased in traffic by 16.6% last September 2023
Semrush reported that the total visits of Bluehost.com continuously increased over the last three months beginning July 2023. In July, Bluehost’s website had 5.3 million visits and became 5.6 million come August. There was a 16.6% increase from August to September when the websites traffic became 6.5 million.
As of September, Bluehost.com ranks 15,048 in the world and 5,359 in the United States where it is based. The domain name has an authority score of 60 and a bounce rate of 42.19%.
15. Bluehost has a 208/950 security rating
UpGuard, a renowned company that analyzes the security of hosting providers, reported that Bluehost has a failing mark in terms of its security as of October 12, 2023. They explained that on a scale of 0 to 950 Bluehost received a 208 security rating, which is tagged as a D rank.
The higher the rating, the more a hosting provider implements good security practices. But the said rating did not even reach half of the 950 range.
16. Bluehost is among the top 3 reliable hosting providers with a guaranteed 99.98% uptime
The advertised uptime of Bluehost is 99.98%, which is similar to that of 1&1 IONOS and InMotion. These three are actually the top three hosting providers with the most reliable solution that keep websites visible online throughout the year.
This means that websites they host will experience a maximum of one hour and 45 minutes of downtime–either crash or become inaccessible–every year. These are comparably a few notches higher than the 99.90% guaranteed uptime of HostGator (99.90%), SiteGround (99.90%), and GoDaddy (99.00%) based on Website Builder Expert’s data.

According to Wappalyzer, English the primary language used by websites hosted by Bluehost. This comprise 25% of all websites hosted by Bluehost as of October 2023. The data is relative to the United States being the country from which the provider has most of its clients.
English used to comprise 92% of websites hosted by Bluehost last December 2022, which marks a 67% decline by users according to language. The other languages used by Bluehost websites are Spanish (20%), Maltese (15%), Polish (15%), French (13%), and Arabic (12%).
18. In 2024, Bluehost is ranked 17th among the Top Web Hosting providers in the world.

19. Bluehost ranks 14th in market scope in the web hosting industry.
Absolute Reports’ Web Hosting Market Analysis: Trends, Insights, and Forecast 2024-2032 released last May 2024 showed that Bluehost continues to encompass a big market share in the web hosting industry. Bluehost holds the 14th rank in terms of market scope, following SquareSpace.
20. In 2024, Bluehost comprises 28.30% serviced by Newfold Digital Group.
Data from W3Tech as of June 2024 show that Newfold Digital Group (NDG) provides hosting to 3.6% of all the websites in the world. Bluehost, one of NDG’s brands, provides hosting to 1.0% of all websites in the world. This translates to 28.30% of all websites hosted by NDG fall under its Bluehost brand.
21. The number of websites hosted by Bluehost declined by 0.1% in June 2024.
Compared to October 2023 W3Tech data, the number of websites hosted by Bluehost declined by 0.1%. October 2023 data show that 1.1% of all websites use Bluehost as hosting provider but this declined to 1.0% in June 2024.
22. In 2024, Bluehost is ranked 2nd among the cheapest web hosting providers in the world.
Survey data from Website Setup show that 9.61% of respondents regard Bluehost as the cheapest web hosting provider in the world. This puts Bluehost on the 2nd spot after GoDaddy (10.08%). HostGator (5.01%) ranked 3rd followed by Hostinger (4.08%) and NameCheap (2.6%).
23. Bluehost lost 3.85% of clients to HostGator as of May 2024.
Bluehost’s cloud platform is said to be on a tag of war with sister company, Hostgator. May 2024 data from Webinar Care reveal that Bluehost gained 50% new clients from NDG’s HostGator brand. Meanwhile, HostGator gained 53.85% new clients from Bluehost for the same period. This translates to Bluehost losing a total of 3.85% of clients to HostGastor, despite the former’s annual growth in popularity at 1.2%.
Accordingly, OVH was the top gainer for the period with 65.38% of new clients from In2net. Google Cloud Platform follows with 57.98% new clients transferring from GoDaddy).
24. Bluehost is used by 72.4% of its clients as an email sending server.
Most of Bluehost’s web hosting clients 72.4% use it as an email server. Although this may seem big, only 2.9% of all websites in the world use NDG as an email server as of May 2024.
25. There was an increase of 5.12% in visits to Bluehost.com last April 2024.
Semrush reported that Bluehost.com received a total of 7.42 million views in April 2024, which is 5.12% higher than the previous month. This gave Bluehost’s website and authority score of 61 and a global rank of 10,459. In the United States, Bluehost.com was ranked 3,721 for the period.
26. 75.19% of visitors accessed the Bluehost website last April 2024 via desktops.
April 2024 Semrush data show that most of Bluehost.com’s visitors preferred desktops over mobile devices. There were only 24.81% of visitors who used mobile devices to access Bluehost.com as against 75.19% of desktop users.
27. In 2024, Bluehost loading speed was recorded at 1.4 seconds.
An experiment conducted by 01Net.Com showed that it takes 1.4 seconds before websites hosted in Bluehost are fully loaded. The experiment was conducted alongside A2 Hosting, HostGator, Dreamhost, InMotion, WP Engine, GoDaddy, SiteGround, and Hostinger. Accordingly, Bluehost had the slowest loading speed compared to other hosting providers. While A2 Hosting had the fastest loading speed at .418 seconds.
28. In April 2024, 18% of Bluehost clients were engaged in the Web Design industry.
The top three industries Bluehost clients belong to are Web Design, SEO, and Digital Marketing. Bluehost has 113 customers engaged in Web Design and 103 in Search Engine Optimization.
There are 89 Bluehost customers from the Digital Marketing Industry, 82 from the Social Media Marketing Industry, and 81 from the Graphic Design Industry. Another 81 of Bluehost clients are engaged in Web Development and Marketing.
In total, Bluehost had 2,680 clients for April 2024.
29. 0.1% of the top 10,000 websites in the world use Bluehost.
As per W3Tech, 0.1% of the top 10,000 websites use Bluehost for their client-operator needs. Another 0.1% of the top 1,000 websites use Bluehost as their hosting provider. This is comparatively lower to that of OVHcloud that is used by 1.7% of the top 10,000 and by 1.4% of the top 1,000 websites in the world as of June 3, 2024.

The WordPress community began the Five for the Future project in 2014 as an invitation to organizations offering open-source solutions to contribute 5% of their resources to the development of WordPress.
